Through the years Times has been pondering on the need
for change in attitude, and it zeroed down to women. If women could be empowered
and awakened to their potential, this change would not only effect the woman but
also all the persons in her life.
WOMEN’S CENTRES
A DYNAMIC MANIFESTATION OF ONE OF THE VISIONS OF THE
WOMEN’S MOVEMENT FOR PEACE AND PROSPERITY (WMPP).
THE
VISION:
GIVE VOICE TO THE VOICELESS WOMEN.
SHE WILL BRING PEACE
AND
PROSPERITY WILL FOLLOW.

ARE ONE OF THE TRIBUTARIES OF THE GIGANTIC RIVEROF
WMPP WHICH HAVE BEEN SET UP IN PRIMARILY NON-ELITIST, SSC BACKED SCHOOLS
DEDICATED MOSTLY TO THE GIRL CHILD.
STRATEGY:
TO EMPOWER WOMEN PHYSICALLY, MENTALLY AND OFFER THEM
VOCATIONAL GUIDANCE.
PHYSICAL WELL-BEING IS TARGETED WITH THE TOOLS OF:

3.HEART DISEASE PREVENTIVE
4.DENTAL CHECK UPS
MENTAL WELL- BEING (STRESS MANAGEMENT)
1.YOGA

3.ART OF LIVING
4. COUNSELLING (SINARA)
VOCATION TRAINING:
TO TEACH SIMPLE, EASY SKILLS TO STUDENTS AND THEIR MOTHERS
TO
HELP THEM GENERATE INCOME AND IMPROVE THEIR SOCIAL
STANDING.
1.CANDLE MAKING
2.BAG MAKING
3.GLASS PAINTING
4.TEXTILE DESIGNING
5. ENGLISH SPEAKING COURSES.
TO ACHIEVE THE ABOVE TARGETS, PROFESSIONAL HELP
HAS TO BE BROUGHT IN.
THESE SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL BE PAID A NOMINAL FEE SO
THAT THESE ACTIVITIES ARE SELF-SUSTAINED.
SUPPORT SYSTEM REQUIRED:
1) AN ENTHUSIATIC
PRINCIPAL WHO IS PASSIONATE ABOUT THIS VENTURE.
2) SHE IN TURN NEEDS WILLING
TEACHERS, STUDENTS, MOTHERS, NON-TEACHING STAFF AND THOSE WHO ARE
CONVINCED ABOUT THE VISION.

Samina Usmani Siraj (above) is a student of
Arts at the Cummoo Jaffer School and Junior College. What makes her stand apart
is that she was invited to Delhi by none other than Prime Minister Manmohan
Singh and felicitated for her mimicry of the PM. We are happy to have her as a
volunteer for activities connected with Times Group and WMPP.
The Times Group, along with Women's Movement for Peace and Prosperity and
Anjuman Islam inaugurated a Women's Centre at Anjuman Islam Complex in
Mumbai on Tuesday, September 27, 2005 (3 p.m. to 5.00 pm), at Anjuman
Islam Complex, near TOI Building.
 
Everyone has inside of him a piece of good news. The good news
is that you don't know how great you can be! How much you can love! What you can
accomplish! And what your potential is!
